This is a section of the superior sagittal sinus in an elderly man who died of various complications of old age. This was an incidental finding — there was no history of cognitive changes and no subarachnoid hemorrhage or infarction. I went back and forth on whether this was antemortem or postmortem. The big chunk of fibrin in the middle speaks to postmortem, but the texture and layered appearance on histology suggests antemortem. On peer review, the collective opinion was that it was antemortem.
Nonetheless, it seems a nice example in case someone needs it for lecture.
